BOTOX® COSMETIC is a purified protein that, when injected, can relax a small facial muscle.
When the muscle stops contracting, it no longer squeezes the skin above it. Eventually, the wrinkles above that muscle fade. While often used for frown lines between the eyebrows, BOTOX® COSMETIC is equally effective for horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet.
In the rare occasions when patients are resistant to BOTOX® COSMETIC Dr. Rotter will switch to a different form of the product. The procedure can be performed in minutes, and the lines will soften within three to five days. Each treatment may last as long as five months. Patients usually need three treatments per year.
