Is an endoscopic brow lift right for you? This month we're going to cover some information that may help you decide. Dr. Rotter has performed scores of brow lifts for patients in his northern VA office. When we're talking about brow lifts, we're referring to the surgical correction of either deep, pronounced horizontal expression lines between your eyes, or eye brows that droop because of aging or genetics. The result is a higher, more youthful looking brow line without deep, undesirable wrinkles between the eyes. And as seen in the images above, sagging eye lids are corrected too.

The result is a younger, more pleasant looking you!

With today's technology, brow lifts can be done using an endoscopic procedure - an endoscopic brow lift. That is, instruments are inserted through very small incisions, and guided by a fiber optic camera. This has tremendous benefits including only the use of local anesthesia, less scarring, and an overall reduction in risk.

Are You a Good Candidate?

As always, the first step is a consultation. Dr. Rotter will meet with you to get full understanding of your health, a physical assessment of the area to be treated and also your motivation behind the endoscopic brow lift. All of these elements are important pieces to the pre-surgical consult. Most candidates come in with either deep wrinkling between their eyes, or drooping eye brows that cause an aged, tired appearance. If the patient is in good health, both of these circumstances can be easily remedied.

What Should You Expect?

During an endoscopic brow lift, you will be under a local anesthesia. Once fully prepped the doctor will make a series - usually three to five - of very small incisions just behind the hairline, and near the temple area. The doctor will pull the brow into a new, more desirable position and then use small staples and temporary sutures to hold the brow in place.

When the procedure is complete, you'll have some mild discomfort and perhaps some numbness around the treated area. The doctor will give you medication that will handle this. Your forehead and brow area will be bandaged.

Sutures dissolve on their own and staples are typically removed 7-10 days after the procedure. By this time, any swelling has typically subsided and you will be able to resume normal activities and head back to work. Any residual bruising can be easily covered up with makeup a week or so after the procedure.

An endoscopic brow lift is a a perfect solution if you have aged, tired looking expressions because of sagging or drooping eye brows, or if you have deep brow wrinkles. Call Dr. Rotter's office today to schedule a consultation. We look forward to hearing from you!
